Phi Kappa Psi – Penn Theta Chapter of Lafayette College hosted its regular “Cafe Phi Psi” event this semester on Saturday, May 4th, 2013. The chapter open up the house in conjunction with the Alpha PhiFA Soccer Tournament for a great brunch. The semester event is hosted to provide community and all proceeds go to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Easton and Best Buddies.
The Boys & Girls Club joined Phi Kappa Psi for breakfast and some fun activities. The men of Phi Kappa Psi were able to present a check for $1,871.13 to the Club Chief Professional Officer Dean Young to support positive educational opportunities at the Boys & Girls Club of Easton and the Easton Teen Center. “Young said, “Thanks to the generosity of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity and their outstanding contribution. Eight club member will attend the Higher Education 2 Degrees Learning Institution conducted by the Boys & Girls Club’s of America Northeast Leadership Conference Team to be held at Rivier University in Nashaua, NH June 7th through June 9th, 2013.
The purpose of the d2D Conference is to bring together teens from across the Northeast Region and allow the members to engage in the higher education process. The conference will help us better understand that college is an option that is available to us in our near future. We will be given the role models, positive peer groups, and skills necessary to create a path to college. This year’s theme is “Explore Your Universe”. By hosting us today at Lafayette College, we have already gained valuable insight that we can use during our upcoming trip during the Diplomas 2 Degrees Conference.” Diplomas to Degrees is a program that grew from a partnership between Toyota and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
