Neuroscientist Lisa Schrott ’87 Sigma Kappa Studies Memory Loss and Prenatal Exposure to Opiates

Lisa Schrott ’87 Sigma Kappa Women’s Sorority is an associate professor, Department of Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Neuroscience, Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center-Shreveport. Schrott focuses her research on the behavioral, endocrine, and immune consequences of prenatal drug exposure as well as the role of neurotrophic factors (relating to the influence of nerves on tissue nutrition) and cytokines (proteins secreted by immune system cells) in brain development and behavior. The purpose of Sigma Kappa Sorority is to provide women lifelong opportunities and support for social, intellectual, and spiritual development by bringing women together to positively impact our communities. Sigma Kappa was founded at Lafayette College as the Penn – Beta Chapter in 1980. Penn-Beta is not currently an active chapter.
