Headshot of Jake Bates On behalf of the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life, I am excited to share with you our first quarterly edition of the Alumni Interfraternity & Sorority Board online newsletter. This newsletter marks the beginning of a new chapter in how we connect, celebrate, and share the amazing work happening across our community. Each issue will highlight the community’s accomplishments, upcoming events, and important updates as we continue to foster a sense of unity and pride.

As the Associate Director of Fraternity & Sorority Life, I am honored to work alongside such passionate leaders and members who embody the values of scholarship, service, leadership, and siblinghood. Together, we are building a legacy that strengthens not only our individual chapters but also our campus and the broader community. Thank you for your dedication and enthusiasm!

The Panhellenic Council has been working hard this year to support both the Lafayette and Easton communities. In February, we hosted Soul Food Sunday in honor of Black History Month and raised $295 for The Caring Place. In March, we had a great turnout for NPC Week, which featured events such as Yoga with Stress Less, Preview Day, Sewing Night, and Thrift & Thrive, all held in collaboration with FSL, Ally, and LRAJE. We raised $497 from Thrift & Thrive and donated it to the Ali Forney Center: LGBTQ+ Youth Shelter & Services.

In April, we collaborated with IFC to host FSL Fest, which included a Hana fundraiser benefiting Third Street Alliance and a meaningful discussion on inclusion within our FSL community. We’re looking forward to the fall semester as we prepare to welcome new members and continue planning events that uplift and support our community!

The Interfraternity Council has been focusing on prioritizing the council’s legitimacy this semester. We are strategically planning how we are going to address reputation, public relations, creating opportunities to support each chapter and develop the members, and set the next council leadership up with a strategic map to guide them in 2026. This semester, we have played a significant role collaborating with the Panhellenic Council to host FSL Fest, have focused on enhancing our Constitution to reinforce the legitimacy of the council, and have set plans in motion for the fall for impactful programming. Unfortunately, my time as president is coming to a close. I have enjoyed this opportunity and look forward to helping the council find the next president to take over through the summer and fall semester.
